Not often we find ourselves in situations which seem to have been lived through or foreseen by our forefathers long before our time, situations in which our response might not always be the one we would have chosen after a deeper and more profound consideration. Interestingly we sometimes stumble upon centuries worth of accumulated wisdom, compacted in just a few words, simple yet full of meaning.
Whether they come in the form of proverbs, sayings or mere stories, they seem to sum up perfectly not only the situation in which we find ourselves, but at the same time, they also provide us with solutions, the result of an entire nation’s contemplation capacity over the span of its existence.
An old Cherokee tell-tale reminds us of the fact that regardless of the times we live in, the human condition finds itself captive in an internal struggle, a battle between two forces which seems to be going on in each and every one of us.
The story explains this battle through the imagery of two wolves, a white wolf representing the forces of good, calmness, security, positivity, peace, a wolf that understands the necessity of living in harmony with its surroundings, ready to stand for, defend and fight for its pack, its values and everything it considers good and then a black wolf, representing insecurity, anger, hate, jealousy, envy, all the negative feelings we humans, unfortunately, are capable of generating.
The moral of the story is as simple as it is timeless. Which wolf will win? Of course the one you feed more often!
How we react, how we interact, who we decide to be every day is only up to us. Sometimes it’s very easy to fall into the trap that negative emotions conceal, it’s very easy to fall into a spiral of thoughts that seem to be self-sustaining, but let’s not forget a thing, just like driving a car seems difficult at first, but repeating it, turns it into an effortless activity that becomes almost a reflex, just as well, feeding negative emotions or thoughts can create such a reflex inside ourselves.
The beauty of life lies in the fact that anything learned can be unlearned. Realizing this, puts it up to us if we choose to see the bright side, if we choose to think positively, if we choose to live our lives, if we choose to send and attract good vibes, and of course, if we win the battle within ourselves.
Which one do you feed? #besunny #behappy #bepositive #youdecide
